We're thrilled to share a captivating time-lapse captured on the trail cameras, showcasing Wilkerr (dingoes) successfully hunting a western grey kangaroo. This footage provides a rare and valuable glimpse into the complex role Wilkerr play in the Big Desert/Wyperfeld National Park ecosystems.

Dingoes are apex predators, and their ecological importance cannot be overstated. When dingo family groups remain stable and unfractured, they are highly effective in regulating herbivore populations, such as kangaroos. This natural herbivore suppression helps maintain ecosystem balance, preventing overgrazing and promoting biodiversity across the landscape.

This time-lapse is part of our ongoing research collaboration with Deakin University and renowned ecologist Professor Euan Ritchie.
